Shrink Packaging Machine
A packaging machine which shrinks thermoplastic film around a product or
group of products, as they pass through a heated tunnel. The following types
of machines come under this category:
- L-seal Shrink Packaging Machine: A semiautomatic shrink
packaging machine which uses roll-fed thermoplastic film folded in half
along its length. A product or group of products are placed between the
two halves of film. The film is then sealed and cut off around the
product with an L shaped sealing bar. Widely used for wrapping books,
video tapes, floppy disks, foodstuffs such as dried fish, boxed
products, etc.
- Sleeve Shrink Packaging Machine: A shrink packaging machine
in which thermoplastic film is wrapped around a package or group of
packages as it moves between two rolls of web that have had the ends
welded together. After the package has completely passed between the web
rolls, a set of I shaped sealing bars push the trailing webs together,
apply heat to seal the webs together and cut it free. The pack is then
passed through a heated tunnel to shrink the film around the product to
produce tighly bundled pack. Widely used for packaging a group of boxes
containing foodstuffs or sundry goods, or a group of PET bottles, cans
or paper containers for beverage.
- Shrink Labeling Machine: A labeling machine which places
printed thermoplastic tubular film over the body of a plastic container,
can, etc., passes it through a heated tunnel to shrink the film around
the body so that it closely fits the container. Widely used for labeling
beverage, seasoning or liquid medicine containers.
- Shrink Tunnel: A machine which passes a product or group of
products wrapped in thermoplastic film through a heated tunnel on a
built-in conveyor and shrinks the film around the products for tight
wrapping.
